Weekly Roundup

Here are my notable finds from the week. Happy weekend everyone!

Reading:
Forbes just released their list of the Most Powerful Women in 2016.  Pretty awesome inspiration, and lots of girl power!

Watching:
Currently lusting over this tote.  Because my Longchamp is finally giving in to dirt (after three years of use), I am looking for a sturdier bag that is still appropriate for a college student.  I think this bag fits the profile, and is super cute!

Dreaming:
In love with Amy's annual Veuve Clicquot Polo recap.  Naturally, I'm a huge fan of the white, blue and orange aesthetic; the horses and linens are an added bonus.

Buying:
I just purchased this shirt.  I'm such a sucker for light blue linen, and I could not say no to the sale price (under $50!!).

Working:
I recently discovered the Tone it Up blog series and I am obsessed! I cannot get enough of their easy to follow workout graphics (found here).  A must have for a post-work workout!

Shamelessly Promoting:
The most popular post of the week, naturally.

Mid-Day Refresher

There's something about the late afternoon that always leaves me feeling dull and unmotivated.  Below I've shared some tips on healthy ways to feel energized during a slump.
1. Move Around
When I feel unmotivated to work, I tend to dose off and distract easily.  To combat the fatigue, I try to get up and move around my work space.  Anything from a simple walk down the hallway, to a ten minute walk outside, to a brief stretch at my desk can help reenergize my afternoon motivation.

2. Make a To-Do List
Organization is always my key to surviving a work or school day.  I find writing down a list of what still needs to be done, or a list of my goals, helps focus my afternoon.  The list centers my attention on the remainder of my work, and helps to negate my sluggish mood.

3. Tie Your Hair Back
This tip is a big one for me.  As someone with long hair, I tend to feel 100% better at the end of the day when I pull the weight up off my neck.  I always have a hair tie on me in case I need to have my hair not be in my face (tame the mane).

4. Drink Water
As I have mentioned before, the health benefits to drinking water are endless.  I drink two 24oz bottles a day, and my goal is to drink a third.  I'm a believer in flushing out toxins while flushing out any uninspiring vibes from the afternoon.

5. Clear Skin
I have incredibly oily skin, so this tip is a big one for me as well.  I like to keep some sort of face wipe in my bag to cleanse my skin of excess oils on the go.  I always feel better with a fresh face.

What are your tricks for feeling refreshed in the afternoon?

Whiteout

I paired my linen sweater with my white jeans for comfort in the chilly office, and added my coral sandals for some color.  Enjoy!

Going for Gingham

I like to start my dreary Mondays off with a cheerful outfit.  Because I work in a office with a business casual dress code, I opt for more conservative pieces.  These gingham pants brighten up my work options, and offer more character than my typical navy Minnie pant.

What's in my bag: Summer Internship Edition

Ahh Sunday evening.  Instead of dreading my Monday morning alarm, I spend Sunday night preparing for the week to come.  On a typical Sunday night, I can be found laying out my outfit and packing my bag for the following work day.  Hooray for organization!  Here is an example of the inside of my work bag on any given Sunday night.

Longchamp: This bag could honestly survive a nuclear attack (probably).  I've mine for about two years and it is the bag I use for everything.
S'well Bottle: After reading countless articles about the health benefits of staying hydrated, I made a habit of carrying a water bottle around with me. Added bonus: because of the insulation of the bottle, any liquid inside stays cool for 24 hours.
Cardholder: I feel like this one is self explanatory.  The mini wallet holds all my cards and goodies without taking up too much space in my bag.
Cashmere Sweater: Because the temperature of the air conditioning in the office does not match the summer heat, I opt to carry a sweater in my bag for easy layering.

Banana and Green Tea: With all the processed options for office snack food, I like to carry more natural alternatives to snack on.

Reusable Tote: After I'm done with work for the day, I visit the gym and sweat everything out.  I use this bag for my gym clothes.

Summer Uniform

To be completely honest, I find the simple simple t-shirt and shorts combination to be my summer uniform.  The ease of the t-shirt pairs perfectly with the ease of the shorts to create a comfortable outfit option during the summer.  On a hot summer day, I'm most likely sporting some combination of a striped shirt and shorts. In honor of my mother, the poor woman who perpetually freezes, I added a navy sweater for the transition from day to night.

Focus on Color: Coral

This collage is inspired by my coral jacks: my beacon of colorful hope in a sea of navy stripes.  Because a pop of coral has the power to elevate an outfit from boring to fabulous, my coral shoes never fail to deliver.  The firery undertones deliver a punch to any ensemble, while the pink tones add a girlish softness.  I'm in love with coral footwear  for the summer.

As this is my first blog post, I feel the need to introduce myself.  My name is Olivia, and I am a rising sophomore at Washington and Lee University.  I grew up in Massachusetts (#freeBrady), and I attribute my love of hydrangeas and pastels to my summers at the Cape.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have been passionate about clothing and curating some sort of personal style.  While I have since graduated from bad turtlenecks and leggings, I am still passionate about my personal style.
